The Strange Foundation

The Strange is a riverside mini compound in New York’s forever-wild Catskill State Park, founded in 2018 by myself and my husband, Daniel Morgan, at our home. We started the space as a homegrown residency of sorts, with the aim of supporting forward-thinking creative practitioners across a broad range of impact-driven disciplines.

So far, we've hosted over 100 creative practitioners and groups across disciplines, including the School for Poetic Computation (see a synopsis of their retreat here), POWRPLNT (see a photo of the group at Strange HQ here), and our multiple cohorts of Decelerator residency participants (learn more about the Decelerator program here). We also host artists for affordable, self-directed creative retreats, and offer sliding-scale rental rates to on-mission organizations (learn more here).

We are excited for The Strange to evolve as our own lives evolve, and to adapt to the shifting needs of the artists, organizers, and thinkers who come here. <3
